Shattered With Curve of Horn, Pages 54 and 55

Luckily I have drawing to do, so I don’t feel guilty for staying inside and dipping into the ink. At this point I’ve halted work on all other side projects as I’m getting so close to finishing up Shattered With Curve of Horn.

Annotations for 54 and 55:

-Even more so than smoke, I love creating light fields, particularly sun beams. They just end up adding so much to the atmosphere.

-Matthew still has his perpetual attitude.

-At this point I feel like I can draw the old model Honda CRV body and interior in my sleep.

Shattered With Curve of Horn, Pages 52 and 53

I’ve now reached the point of full-speed ahead. The end is in sight. I’ve been drawing like a fiend for the past two weeks. After the work I do today I’ll have only twenty-three pages (plus possibly four more that I’m adding) left!  *Whew* Big sigh of relief.

You readers that have stuck with me from the start are awesome, cause all the slow build up is about to start paying off.  Albeit, at the rate of only two pages a week, ha!

Annotations for 52 and 53:

-We’re back in the hotel!  Let me tell you how much I love that orange wall as a color balancing device.  Accent walls should be used more. Of course if you use them on more than one wall in a room, then they’re not an accent. That’s just the way it is.

-This is only the second time in the book that I’ve used silhouette. You have to choose your moments I find (like the accent wall).  The silhouette is designed to give the eye a break, and some contrast.  Coincidentally the panel appears in exactly the same spot as the last silhouette in the story, way back on page 17.

-The smoke is so much fun to draw, and I always put it in last, after word bubbles, so I can design exactly where it goes.

Shattered With Curve of Horn, Pages 50 and 51

Good day to one and all! Two new pages for my friends, and we’re bowling ahead.  Whew, we made it to page 50! Hopefully the slow burn of the story is beginning to come together just a bit for everyone. I know it takes a lot of patience to wait a whole week for two little pages and one baby step of story progression, but I cherish you repeat readers! So, if you are so inclined, share Shattered With Curve of Horn around on your social media sites or turn a pal on to it by word of mouth, whatever you can do to help me gain new readers is fully sufficient payment and appreciation for reading the comic. Notes:

-I’m pretty pleased with how the backgrounds outside the window turned out in the whole car sequence.

-Overlaying word bubbles to indicate interruptions is one of my favorite tricks.

-In the last panel of page 50 you can see that Caitlin is just starting to tilt her baggy over.  In the following panel you can see how her “herb” begins to sprinkle out.  This is all background action until it’s brought to the forefront when Shane draws her (and the reader’s) attention to it.  I’m quite into the idea of “side drama.” That is, I like the simple “slight-of-hand” action of pulling the reader’s attention in one direction but then snapping it back in the other.

-Shots through the glass are fun. Reflections! Glare! Always good to draw.

Good morning, and with it we have another installment of the update slate.  As you can see, I’m 75% finished drawing this baby (a little more than that now, actually).  But even more amazing is this: I’m projecting to be DONE, DONE, DONE with the drawing portion of creation by the end of next month.  By the end of June, can you even believe it?  Of course, finishing the coloring will still take about two months after that, but Wow, just Wow.  That means that by June, I can start turning a bunch of my attention toward promotion of the book.

This is fantastic for a number of reasons. Chief among those are that I’ll have more time to finish the short, black and white comic I’m working on, as well as A BRAND NEW PROJECT that is just starting to be developed.  Woooo, lots of fun stuff in the future. Don’t forget to RSS the site and check back regularly.

Also, this is a good a time to mention it as any that I’ve expanded Shattered With Curve of Horn by 6 pages, bringing the story up to 138. Just to help flesh it out a bit at a few key points.  I may actually bump it up to 140 for the story by the time it gets printed, along with a good chunk of supplemental material not available online that will be included in the print book.

Shattered With Curve of Horn, Pages 44 and 45

We have now arrived at pages 44 and 45, Artajammers. Whew, I have so much on my plate right now with finishing this thing up.  But it feels great. I’ve been engaged with drawing a particular 8 page sequence for the past two weeks that will wow your eyes out of your sockets! And I’m about up to page 94 now, drawing-wise.  Also, I’ve decided to add another six pages to the project, just to rounds out the story and smooth down some inconsistencies, but I think you’ll like them. I work harder, and you all win because of it, ha!

So, as great as Peter Dinklage is at playing Tyrion on the HBO Game of Thrones series, he’s not an ugly guy, and definitely veers a bit away from George R. R. Martin’s descriptions of “The Imp.” When I was reading the first book, this is what came to mind for me, so I thought I’d share it with everyone else.  And, there’s some bonus Bronn in the background.
